Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, the Minority Leader, has voiced criticism against Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign policy, asserting that Bawumia cannot distance himself from the policies and programs being implemented by the Government.
Forson highlighted Bawumia’s integral role in steering the passage of the E-Levy as the Head of the Economic Management Team. He argued that Bawumia cannot now claim to be detached from it.
During his national campaign launch in Accra on Wednesday, February 7, Vice President Bawumia pledged to rejuvenate the economy, combat corruption, and bolster the private sector if elected. He further promised to abolish the E-Levy, Emissions, and Betting taxes.
Responding to Bawumia’s campaign promises, Forson addressed the Parliamentary Press Corps in Accra on Thursday, emphasizing Bawumia’s authority to remove taxes as Ghana’s Vice President.
Forson underscored Bawumia’s pivotal role in supervising all economic policies implemented since 2017 under President Akufo-Addo’s administration. He noted that Bawumia’s position has been further fortified since he is now the Flagbearer of the ruling NPP party.
