Cristiano Ronaldo Questions Credibility of Ballon d’Or and FIFA Best Awards

Published:

Al Nassr star Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed concerns about the diminishing credibility of football awards such as the Ballon d’Or and FIFA Best. Ronaldo, who recently claimed the Best Middle East Player and Fans’ Favourite Player awards at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, hinted that Lionel Messi may not be the deserving candidate for these prestigious prizes.

In an interview following the ceremony, Ronaldo stated, “Ballon d’Or and The Best are losing credibility. It’s not to say that Messi didn’t deserve it, or Haaland or even Mbappé… but the numbers are there, and the numbers don’t deceive. You’ve to consider the entire season.”

Ronaldo emphasized the importance of evaluating players based on their overall season performance, suggesting that numbers and statistics provide an objective measure.

Reflecting on his achievements at Al Nassr, Ronaldo addressed his record-breaking goal and shared insights into his focused approach.

“If you go back and see what happened at Manchester United and the national team, people actually considered me lost. But the truth is that I focused and had a great period at Al Nassr, that’s why I scored 54 goals,” Ronaldo added.
