Dr. Bawumia Urges Unity Following NPP Primaries


In the aftermath of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primaries, where over 20 incumbent Members of Parliament lost their seats, the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called for unity and collaboration among party members.

Dr. Bawumia, in a statement, urged the defeated parliamentary aspirants to prioritize the supreme interest of the NPP and work closely with the elected candidates to secure victory in the upcoming December elections.

“To those who lost out, I, together with the rank and file of the Party, need your support and contributions to ensure that we win the majority of seats and the presidency in the December 2024 elections,” stated Dr. Bawumia.

Expressing confidence in the party’s ability to succeed in the upcoming general elections, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of unity among party members. He called on the unsuccessful aspirants to put the election behind them and focus on working together for the collective success of the NPP.

The parliamentary primaries saw surprising outcomes, with more than 20 incumbent MPs losing their seats. Despite these changes, Dr. Bawumia is optimistic that with a unified front, the NPP will emerge victorious in the December 2024 elections.

The defeated MPs include Joseph Cudjoe, Ama Pomaa Boateng, Sheila Bartels, Moses Anim, Freda Prempeh, John Benam Jabaale, Tina Naa Ayeeley Mensah, Dr. Adomako Kissi, Eugene Boakye Antwi, Yves Hanson Nortey, Bright Wireko Brobbey, Akwasi Afrifa Mensah, Elvis Donkor, Lawyer Erickson Abekah, Akwasi Darko Boateng, and Adwoa Safo.

Dr. Bawumia congratulated those who were elected in the primaries, acknowledging the contributions of the NPP Election Committee, the Electoral Commission, the security services, and the media in ensuring a peaceful and successful outcome.
