Ghanaian artiste Akwaboah has revealed that he has no intention of participating in Ghana’s upcoming elections, expressing his disillusionment with politicians’ failure to fulfill their promises.
In an interview with Nana Romeo on Accra FM, Akwaboah stated that he abstained from voting in the 2020 elections and plans to do the same in the upcoming elections. He voiced his dissatisfaction with politicians who make promises but fail to deliver on them.
The ‘Love Unfair’ singer also reacted to a recent promise made by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia regarding the introduction of digital and streaming platforms for artistes in the country. Akwaboah expressed skepticism towards such promises, stating that politicians often make similar pledges to gain attention from the creative arts sector.
While Akwaboah refrained from expressing belief or disbelief in Dr. Bawumia’s promise, he emphasized that the creative arts community is hopeful that politicians will fulfill their commitments.
His stance reflects a broader sentiment of disillusionment among artists and citizens alike regarding political promises and their implementation.
