Ahead of Ghana’s highly anticipated 2024 elections, celebrated Highlife artist Kwabena Kwabena has announced his withdrawal from political engagements.
During a recent interview on TV3’s New Day monitored by newsandvibes.com, the iconic ‘Tokro’ vocalist declared his intention to steer clear of partisan politics, asserting his commitment solely to his Ghanaian identity.
“I am completely out of politics. I am Ghanaian,” Kwabena Kwabena affirmed when questioned by host Cookie Tee about potential involvement in campaigning for any political party in the upcoming election.
This marks a significant departure from his previous public endorsement of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the 2016 electoral campaign.
Back in 2016, Kwabena Kwabena had fervently rallied support for the NPP, urging voters to “vote for change” during a campaign event on October 9, 2016.
With the 2024 elections on the horizon, it appears that the artist, along with many other Ghanaian celebrities, harbors reservations about the governance and management of the country in recent years.
