Ashanti region’s Member of Parliament for Manhyia South constituency, Hon Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as Napo, has demonstrated his commitment to education by donating 150 lecture hall desks to St Louis College of Education. The MP responded to an appeal from the college management, aiming to enhance the teaching and learning environment for both educators and students.
Presenting the desks on Friday, January 19, 2024, Napo, who is also the Minister for Energy, emphasized his dedication to improving the quality of education in the constituency. He expressed his affection for the college, pledging to support its progress and success in producing high-caliber teachers.
During the handover, Napo urged the students to take good care of the furniture to prolong its lifespan. The Principal of St Louis College of Education, Monica Konnie Mensah, expressed gratitude for the timely donation, addressing the inadequacy of desks and promising their optimal use.
In a related development, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh extended his generosity by donating 14,000 exercise books and 20 teachers’ tables and desks to basic schools in the Manhyia South constituency. He emphasized the importance of comfortable teaching conditions and encouraged students to utilize the exercise books for their academic benefit.
The donation was received by the Kumasi Metro Director of Education, David Oppong, who commended the MP for consistently supporting the Metro’s educational needs. He assured that the items would be used as intended, advising teachers to distribute the books directly to the children to enhance academic performance.
