The Kumasi Traditional Council has given the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership a week to produce Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Wontumi, before the council.
The summons was issued in response to allegations of disrespect leveled against Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP. The Council demanded his appearance along with Lawyer Maurice Ampau, the show host on Wontumi TV, and the management of the media organization.
Originally scheduled to appear today, Wontumi cited health reasons for his absence, a claim that drew skepticism from various divisions within the Council. The NPP leadership, led by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, conveyed the health message but failed to provide a medical report, prompting the Council’s decision.
In light of the skepticism and the seriousness of the allegations, the Council ruled that Chairman Wontumi must appear before them on Monday, January 29, 2024, at 11 am. This period allows the NPP leadership time to present Wontumi before the Council to address the charges of disrespect aired on Wontumi TV.
