Watch Trailer: Shirley Frimpong-Manso ‘ENO’ Returns

Published:

In an eagerly awaited comeback, the Ghanaian drama series ENO is gearing up for its second season on Showmax, scheduled for release on February 12, 2024, with subsequent episodes airing weekly. Following the success of its first season, which gained recognition as one of the most-watched titles on Showmax in Ghana during 2022, anticipation is high for the continuation of the gripping storyline.

Renowned director Shirley Frimpong-Manso, who led the first season, expresses her enthusiasm for creating content that resonates with the Ghanaian audience. She highlights the team’s improved understanding of the characters’ struggles and aspirations, promising an even more compelling viewing experience for the upcoming season.

The plot of ENO Season 2 centers around Abena Baafi, a controlling mother faced with the challenging task of safeguarding her daughters, Tessa and Safowaa, from the repercussions of decisions driven solely by financial motives. With the loss of one daughter and the unexpected arrival of another, the narrative takes an unexpected turn, plunging the family into a whirlwind of chaos.

Taking a fresh approach, Frimpong-Manso notes, “I believe my team and I did an even better job on the second season, based on the fact that we know these characters better and are more familiar with their struggles and aspirations.”

The story picks up several months after the Season 1 finale, delving into Abena’s introspection on the consequences of her authoritative past on her daughters. The second season promises an emotionally charged narrative, unraveling buried ambitions with significant consequences.

The cast features the return of AMVCA winner Gloria Osei-Sarfo as Abena, alongside Emelia Asiedu and Esi Hammond portraying Tessa and Safowaa, respectively. The ensemble also includes familiar faces such as John Dumelo, Michael Katahena, Godwin Namboh, Michelle Hammond, Brian Angels, Dela Seade, and Kabutey Ocansey, joined by Darlyn Adu-Gyamfi, Melvin DK Asinyo, Kwame Dzokoto, and Amanda Jissih.

ENO Season 2 is set to premiere on Showmax as part of the streaming platform’s revamped February 2024 lineup, offering viewers a diverse array of entertainment options. The Ghanaian drama series joins a collection of Showmax Originals from across Africa, promising a compelling and varied viewing experience for audiences.
