Authorities have dismantled a gang of ten individuals in the Nyankamam-Armori forest who were impersonating members of an anti-Galamsey Task Force.
The group, claiming connections with the Aowin Paramount Chief, had been extorting money from illegal miners while carrying out their operations with apparent impunity.
The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources indicated that the impersonators’ actions were enabling and encouraging illegal mining in the Aowin municipality.
NAIMOS intervened, arresting the suspects along with their weapons and traditional talismans. The group is set to be transferred to the Ghana Police Service for further investigation and legal action.
