A serious road crash at Nyamebekyere on the Sunyani–Kumasi highway left sixteen people injured at dawn on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. The collision occurred when a Ford Transit minibus, registered AS 7172-23, and a Kia Rhino truck, bearing the number AS 3058-X, crashed head-on, trapping occupants in both vehicles.

Emergency responders from the Bechem Fire Station arrived shortly after 5:38 a.m., following a distress call. Led by STNO II Simon Yeboah, the eight-member team used rescue tools to free everyone who had been pinned inside the two damaged vehicles.

Fourteen passengers from the Ford Transit and two occupants of the Kia Rhino were evacuated and sent to the Bechem Government Hospital as well as the PISGAH Advanced Medical Center for treatment. Officials confirmed that although the victims suffered different degrees of injury, no fatalities were recorded.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage in the impact, and investigators are still working to determine what triggered the early-morning crash.
