26-Year-Old Faces Court for Stealing Ginger Worth GHC 2,000 in Nkawie

Ministry of Finance — Driver’s Mate Jailed After Laptop Grab Gone Wrong

A young farmer in Nkawie, Ashanti Region, has been taken into custody following allegations that he stole ginger from a neighbor’s farm in Gyankobaa. The 26-year-old, known locally as Jansarah, is expected to appear in court again on August 22, 2025.

Authorities say the incident occurred on May 26, when the farmer was discovered harvesting half a bag of ginger valued at around GHC 2,000 from the complainant, Regina Agyei, who owns the farm. Attempts to resolve the matter amicably failed when the farmer fled with the ginger after sensing he might be reported to the police.

The complainant alerted local law enforcement, and the suspect was later apprehended on August 6 in connection with another theft case. During questioning, he admitted to taking the ginger and claimed to have sold it to someone locally, though he could not provide the buyer’s details.
