A horrifying incident has rocked the community of Segbega in the Republic of Togo, where a sachet water distributor has been arrested in connection with the brutal killing of his employer.
The suspect, identified as Augustine Amuzu, a national of Benin, was reportedly seen by locals throwing a human head into the Balissime lagoon. The disturbing discovery prompted immediate action from community members, who apprehended Amuzu and handed him over to the police.
According to eyewitness accounts, the tragedy unfolded after Amuzu returned with CFA 11,000 collected from a debtor on behalf of his boss. It’s believed that he had stolen part of the money, leading to a heated confrontation. During the altercation, Amuzu allegedly struck his employer with a rod, rendering him unconscious. He then proceeded to behead the victim.
The severed head was transported in a tricycle and dumped in the Apedokoe–Balissime lagoon, where it was later discovered. Locals who witnessed the act quickly mobilized and detained Amuzu before alerting authorities.
Police also recovered stolen funds from the suspect, further linking him to the crime. He is currently in the custody of the Aflao–Sagbado Police in Togo and is assisting with ongoing investigations.
The incident has left the community shaken, with many struggling to come to terms with the gruesome nature of the crime. Authorities are expected to release further details as the investigation progresses.
