Ghanaian gospel singer Ceccy Twum has made it clear that her music events will not accept sponsorship from condom companies, citing a conflict with her ministry’s focus on abstinence. While acknowledging the importance of funding for gospel events, she insists that partnerships must align with the message she promotes.
She explained that promoting a condom brand would conflict with her teachings, as her ministry aims to discourage premarital sexual activity. Although married couples occasionally use condoms, the majority of her audience is unmarried, meaning sponsorship by such brands could indirectly encourage casual sex among youth.
Twum’s stance reflects wider discussions in the gospel music sector regarding the balance between commercial sponsorships and maintaining the integrity of ministry values. Her position highlights a commitment to prioritizing moral principles over financial gain, even in an industry increasingly reliant on corporate support.
