The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, ended his three-day official visit to Barbados on November 13, 2025. The monarch traveled to Bridgetown on November 11 aboard the first direct flight from Ghana, accompanied by a delegation that included Nana Otuo Siriboe II, Juabenhene, and other prominent chiefs and officials.
Upon arrival at Grantley Adams International Airport, he was welcomed by Barbados government officials, including the Foreign Minister, the High Commissioner to Ghana, and representatives from GUBA Enterprise. The visit began with a courtesy call to the Prime Minister at Ilaro Court, where diplomatic discussions aimed at enhancing Ghana-Barbados relations took place, culminating in the exchange of symbolic gifts.
On the second day, the Asantehene inaugurated the Royal Diplomatic Golf Invitational at Apes Hill Club, an event attended by sports and business officials from Barbados and the Caribbean. Later, he delivered a keynote address at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, under the theme “Reclaiming Our Atlantic Destiny: Connect, Build, Renew,” advocating for strengthened links between Africa and its diaspora.
Following the speech, the monarch toured the Hilary McDonald Beckles Administration Block, inspired by the Golden Stool, and viewed commemorative artwork and a 17-year-old Baobab tree planted during his earlier visit. His trip concluded with attendance at the 16th GUBA Awards and Dinner, celebrating contributions to the African diaspora, where he praised the organizers for their efforts in sustaining the annual initiative.
