The Member of Parliament for Tafo Constituency, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, is pursuing legal recourse against Onasis Kobby, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Petroleum Hub, and three other individuals for allegedly spreading false social media claims. The posts suggested the lawmaker fathered a child with the wife of the late Samuel Aboagye, Deputy DADMO Director, who tragically died in a helicopter crash in August.

Assafuah’s legal team maintains that the posts are entirely fabricated and intended to damage his reputation, while also showing disregard for the sensitivities of the bereaved family. According to his lawyers, the MP had never personally met the woman and only became aware of her through media coverage following the accident.

The four accused have been given 12 hours to issue a public retraction and apology using the same channels where the claims were made. Failure to comply will result in formal legal proceedings against them for defamation.

The controversy has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with users speculating about the alleged paternity claims, intensifying the pressure on the accused parties.
