Guinness World Record singathon hopeful Afua Asantewaa says she is terrified after receiving a message she believes could jeopardize her safety. The note is alleged to have come from King Atehene, a man who has publicly installed himself as the ruler of a claimed Kubala Kingdom.
Afua posted on her social media on November 5, 2025, that this message arrived not long after the so-called monarch was expelled from a forest in Scotland. He had been staying there with two women he referred to as his wives.
The broadcaster explained that the communication appeared to carry a threatening undertone and accused her of undermining a figure who sees himself as a king. The wording of the message, which she disclosed online, contained symbolic warnings and implied consequences for what he considered disrespect.
The incident has left her rattled and uncertain about why she has been drawn into a situation she has no connection to. She pleaded publicly for the man behind the Kubala Kingdom claims to stop involving her and to refrain from harassing women.
This is reportedly not the first time Afua has heard from him. She earlier disclosed that he once contacted her, applauding her music ambitions and proposing that she join his fictional kingdom as a queen mother.
King Atehene rose to online notoriety earlier in 2025 when he announced himself as the head of the Kubala Kingdom — a territory he asserted was located in a Scottish woodland. He lived there with two women: Jean Gasho, who presented herself as Queen Nandi, and Kaura Taylor, known as Asnat. The trio insisted they were reclaiming ancestral lands they claimed were taken centuries ago.
