Eventually, he gathered enough courage to take action and reported the situation to the authorities.

The uncle shared that his nephew had managed to raise ₦30,000 through hard work at a car wash in Akure, which he used to make his way back to Port Harcourt.

With the help of his own determination, he bravely reported his abductor, Mr. Taye, to the police, despite Taye’s flight from justice when the authorities arrived.

During his years away, the boy had lost his native Igbo dialect and now spoke with a Yoruba accent, a change his uncle mentioned while emphasizing that the story shouldn’t be used to fuel ethnic tensions. The emotional reunion came with mixed feelings, with the family expressing both joy and pain over the years lost.

The boy’s story has sparked reactions from Nigerians online, with many expressing shock, admiration, and relief. Some have questioned the circumstances surrounding the abduction, suggesting that there could be more to the tale than what is publicly known.
