Family allegedly misuses funds meant for sickle cell patient's treatment
Popular Nigerian content creator Nedu Wazobia has recently voiced his outrage over the actions of a family allegedly exploiting the struggles of their daughter, who is battling sickle cell disease.
In a heartfelt message, Nedu recounted how the young woman reached out to him for assistance, prompting him to spearhead a fundraising campaign that successfully raised an impressive N20 million for her medical treatment.
However, Nedu expressed his shock and disappointment when he discovered that the family had ulterior motives for the funds.
He revealed that the lady’s elder sister had already withdrawn a significant sum of N3 million from the account intended for medical expenses, using it for her own personal gain.
This left the family with a remaining balance of N17 million, which, rather than being directed towards the young woman’s treatment, was reportedly earmarked for purchasing a house.
Nedu did not hold back in his condemnation of the family’s actions, labelling them as selfish and wicked for prioritising their own desires over the well-being of their sick daughter.
He made it clear that he would not stand idly by while the family misuses the funds meant to aid in her recovery, announcing his intentions to take legal action against them.
His passionate plea highlights the critical need for accountability and ethical behaviour when it comes to fundraising for medical support, particularly in vulnerable situations like this.
