A dramatic scene unfolded at a hospital when a man flatly refused to authorize a cesarean section for his wife who was struggling during labour, forcing family elders to intervene.
According to a law graduate, Didi Johnson, who witnessed the incident firsthand, the pregnant woman had been taken into the operating room after being unable to deliver naturally. As is standard practice, doctors brought out a consent form for the husband to sign before proceeding with the C-section. Shockingly, he declined.
Despite desperate pleas from the woman’s sister and the law graduate, the husband held firm, insisting that his wife must deliver vaginally—even though it had already become clear that natural delivery was no longer an option.
With the woman already too weak to make any decisions herself, her family was contacted. Realizing the urgency of the situation, elders from her side arrived at the hospital and authorized the surgery themselves.
