Former Black Stars player Samuel Inkoom finds himself entangled in legal trouble after being accused of defrauding a couple of USD 8,000.
Doris Dankwa and her fiancé, Seth Osei Addai, alleged that Inkoom deceived them with promises of facilitating their relocation to the United States, taking advantage of their trust and hope for a better future abroad.
The couple reportedly approached Inkoom, believing his connections could expedite their visa process. Under this pretext, Inkoom is alleged to have convinced them to pay USD 4,000 each for visa processing services.
The money, totalling USD 8,000, was handed over via Doris’s father, John Dadzie, who facilitated the transaction on behalf of the couple.
Once the funds were received, Inkoom is said to have become elusive, failing to fulfill his promises.
His sudden lack of communication raised concerns, leading the frustrated couple to file a formal complaint with the authorities.
The police launched an investigation into the matter, though Inkoom initially managed to avoid contact and arrest.
Eventually, with the assistance of his former club, Accra Hearts of Oak, law enforcement officials apprehended him.
In a court session held on July 23, 2024, at the Kwabenya Circuit Court, presided over by Ms. Mavis Bedjrah, Inkoom addressed the allegations.
He requested additional time to repay the couple, explaining that he was in the process of selling his properties to gather the necessary funds.
The court, acknowledging his plea, granted an extension, setting a new deadline for the repayment by October 31, 2024.
As the case proceeds, the court is expected to reconvene in the coming months to determine the next steps in this ongoing legal matter.
The outcome remains uncertain as both parties await further developments, with Inkoom under pressure to settle the debt and resolve the dispute.
