A Nigerian hairstylist has taken to social media to vent her frustration after allegedly being shortchanged by a bride and her bridal team following a grueling full-day service.
The stylist, who shared her experience on X (formerly Twitter), said she worked non-stop from 6:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. styling the bride and her bridesmaids, only to face what appeared to be an attempt to dodge payment.
According to her posts, she had styled the bride before and didn’t anticipate any issues, which is why she didn’t press for payment at the event hall.
To her shock, she discovered the following morning that she had been blocked on all messaging platforms by the bride, despite still being owed a ₦401,000 balance.
The stylist added that she went above and beyond to deliver quality work, even having to improvise due to the bride’s hair challenges, which included untamed flyaways. Despite her efforts, she claimed the bride blamed her for the bridal team’s lateness.
The situation escalated as she publicly named and shamed the bridal party online, revealing that the total amount owed to her was ₦511,000 — ₦401,000 from the bride and ₦110,000 from the bridesmaids.
Her call-out post quickly gained traction, drawing massive attention and sparking online debate.
Eventually, she confirmed that the money had been paid in full, expressing gratitude for the resolution but standing firm on her frustration over how she was treated.
Online reactions flooded in, with some sympathizing with her ordeal while others criticized the bride’s alleged behavior. Many saw it as yet another example of the challenges service providers face, especially in the wedding industry.
The incident has reignited conversations around professionalism, respect for creative labor, and the need for enforceable agreements before rendering services.
The vendor has since deleted the post on social media.
