Ghanaian media personality, Halifax Ansah Addo, has called out Afua Asantewaa for making false claims about the support she received during her recent singathon event.
Speaking on a popular radio show, Halifax refuted Asantewaa’s statements that she did not receive adequate help and financial support during the event.
Halifax revealed that the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) alone spent hundreds of thousands of Ghana cedis supporting Afua Asantewaa’s singathon, not to mention the numerous gifts and assistance from individuals and prominent personalities who attended the program.
He highlighted that if the full amount spent on the event were to be disclosed, Afua Asantewaa might face scrutiny from the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) for how the funds were used.
According to Halifax, the GTA spent around Ghc 9,000 on Afua Asantewaa’s accommodation at the Accra City Hotel (formerly Novotel).
Furthermore, he added that the costs of purchasing goods and services for the event surpassed the monthly salary of 500 Ghanaians, based on the daily minimum wage, amounting to over Ghc 200,000.
This exposé comes after Afua Asantewaa sparked public outrage by claiming that former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who visited her singathon, only provided her with medicine for a sore throat and no financial contribution.
Her statements have led to accusations of ingratitude and dishonesty from many Ghanaians, with some questioning her integrity.
As Halifax continues to expose the full extent of the support Afua Asantewaa received, many are waiting to see how the media personality will respond to these revelations. The controversy over her singathon continues to make headlines, as more details emerge about the event’s financial backing.
