Renowned music producer and sound engineer, Hammer, has finally opened up about his vocal opposition to Mark Okraku Mantey’s appointment as Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Arts.
In an interview with Accra-based Starr FM, Hammer revealed that his disapproval stemmed from Okraku Mantey’s consistent prioritization of personal interests over the collective good.
Hammer cited Okraku Mantey’s self-centered approach to public office, contrasting it with the selfless leadership style of Ibrahim Ohene Gyan, who has supported and developed the skills of numerous individuals in the industry.
While acknowledging Okraku Mantey’s business acumen, Hammer emphasized that public office requires prioritizing the collective interest over personal desires. He expressed concerns that Okraku Mantey’s appointment would not serve the best interests of the tourism and creative arts sector.
Hammer’s comments have sparked a heated debate about the role of public officials and the need for leaders who prioritize the greater good.
The Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MOTAC) is Mr. Mark Okraku-Mantey. Prior to being appointed as the Deputy Minister, he served as the interim president of the Creative Arts Council, where he engaged artists nationwide in order to get their feedback on the Creative Industries Bill and to organize monthly master classes that prepared industry participants for their various specialties. He served as the go-between for strategic decisions made by the government and the creative sector.
