Music producer and sound engineer, Hammer, has lambasted Mark Okraku Mantey’s approach to public office, labeling it as self-centered and detrimental to the collective good.
In a scathing critique, Hammer accused Okraku Mantey of prioritizing personal interests over the needs of the tourism and creative arts sector, which he was appointed to serve as Deputy Minister.
Hammer’s comments come as a response to Okraku Mantey’s appointment, which he had earlier opposed. He cited Okraku Mantey’s track record of prioritizing personal gain over collective benefit, stating that “his actions over time reveal his true character”.
Hammer’s harsh words have sparked a lively debate about the role of public officials and the need for leaders who prioritize the greater good. While some have come to Okraku Mantey’s defense, others have echoed Hammer’s concerns, calling for a more selfless approach to public service.
The controversy has highlighted the need for leaders who prioritize the collective interest over personal desires, and has sparked a necessary conversation about the role of public officials in Ghana.
In the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MOTAC), Mr. Mark Okraku-Mantey serves as the deputy minister. He was the acting president of the Creative Arts Council prior to being appointed deputy minister. In that role, he organized monthly masterclasses to educate industry participants on their various disciplines and engaged creative practitioners nationwide by asking for their input on the Creative Industries Bill.
