Prophet Kumchacha, leader of Heavens Gate Ministries, recently shared a controversial viewpoint about polygamy, suggesting that men should consider marrying multiple wives.
His argument revolves around the idea that the Bible does not explicitly prohibit polygamy, despite common beliefs held by many.
During a television appearance, Kumchacha explained that although Apostle Paul advised men to marry one wife, this advice was not a commandment but merely a suggestion.
He contended that men are free to choose how many wives they want, as no strict biblical rule forbids marrying more than one woman.
According to him, having multiple wives might even contribute to a longer life for men, as dealing with the challenges of a single marriage can be overwhelming.
Kumchacha pointed out that in cases of wealth, like that of prominent businessmen, supporting multiple wives would not be difficult.
He added that if he were blessed with similar financial means, he would likely follow the same path.
He also mentioned that while some may cite Paul’s writings in the Bible to support monogamy, these writings are open to interpretation and not laws that must be followed.
In addition, Kumchacha highlighted that other instructions from Apostle Paul, such as the suggestion that women should not preach in church, are often ignored in today’s religious practices.
He believes that Paul’s guidance on both issues—monogamy and women in ministry—are more advisory in nature rather than strict commandments.
“Marriage has its issues, so I always tell men to marry at least two or three women if they want to live long.
“If God blesses me with wealth like Kwame Despite or Ofori Sarpong, I would do the same. As a prophet, I dare any pastor to show me a Bible verse from Genesis to Revelation that says having more than one wife will send you to hell—it doesn’t exist.”
