Ghanaian radio presenter and disc jockey, DJ Slim, has made headlines with his announcement that he has officially severed ties with the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
This revelation came in a video he shared on X, where he candidly addressed his previous affiliation with the ruling political party, emphasising that he has decided to move on.
In his appearance on the show “Street Is Watching,” DJ Slim didn’t hold back his criticisms of the NPP, describing it as one of the ineffective political parties operating in Ghana.
His comments reflect a growing discontent with the current political landscape, particularly regarding the pressing issue of illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, which he believes has severely impacted the nation.
Drawing attention to the environmental damage caused by galamsey activities, DJ Slim pointed out the alarming transformation of the river along the Cape Coast road, which he likened to the appearance of Milo, a popular chocolate beverage.
He lamented that many rivers in the country have lost their natural colours, becoming polluted and unrecognisable.
Moreover, he expressed concern over the motivations of those who engage in mobilising student bodies, suggesting that their actions are driven more by personal interests than a genuine concern for the students themselves.
This statement resonates with many who are dissatisfied with the current state of political engagement in the country.
As DJ Slim’s announcement circulates online, it has sparked conversations about the relationship between politicians and the public, particularly in light of pressing national issues.
