A heated family dispute has emerged between Comfort Adwoa Serwaa and her younger brother, Kofi Tabiri, over the ownership of a house in Accra.
Speaking on Masem on Opemsuo Radio monitored by News and Vibes, Comfort shared how she had trusted her brother with financial transactions over the years, only to find herself locked in a battle for her own property.
During her time as a baker in Tamale, she gave Kofi a significant sum of GHC140,000,000 to facilitate his travel abroad. However, after being defrauded by a relative, Kofi remained in Ghana, settling in the family house in Accra.
Comfort later purchased a house in Kumasi without her husband’s knowledge. Upon informing him after making the final payment, he insisted that the documents be handed over to her elder brother instead of keeping them himself.
Two months later, she sought to invest in another house in Accra and asked Kofi to assist her.
He introduced her to an uncompleted property in Kokrobite, for which she made substantial payments through him. Her husband was not involved in these transactions, and she never asked Kofi to account for the funds.
In 2012, tensions arose when Kofi’s girlfriend moved into the house, accusing Comfort of neglecting her while caring for her own children.
The situation escalated, and by 2013, Comfort moved out and enrolled her children in boarding school.
When she requested Kofi to vacate the house in 2022, he refused, arguing that she would sell it and spend the money on her husband, who is allegedly sick and married to another woman.
He insisted that he was only protecting the future of her children.
Despite Comfort’s name still appearing on the property documents, Kofi maintains that he will only relinquish the house if she reimburses him for the amount he contributed to completing it.
Their mother also confirmed that Comfort had once allocated rooms in the house to Kofi’s family.
