Michael Blackson, the American-Ghanaian comedian and actor, has voiced his frustration with the current administration of President Nana Akufo-Addo, accusing the government of mishandling his investments.
In a series of heated tweets, Blackson expressed his intention to sue Ghana over what he believes was financial exploitation that affected his plans for a charitable school project.
Blackson had recently launched the Michael Blackson Academy, a school he built to provide free education to children in his community in Ghana.
The school offers education from kindergarten to primary level three, and in addition to being tuition-free, students receive free uniforms.
His aim was to contribute to the local community by ensuring that children from underprivileged backgrounds had access to quality education at no cost.
However, the comedian’s recent outburst suggests that his philanthropic efforts have been undermined by the government.
According to Blackson, funds meant for the development of his school were mismanaged, leaving him feeling cheated.
He implied that the government had struck deals with him that were later dishonoured, resulting in a significant financial loss on his end.
“If it wasn’t for the love and passion for the underprivileged youth of Ghana, I would just hand the school to the people and walk away.”
In his tweets, Michael Blackson vowed to take legal action against Ghana, even hinting at plans to sue the country in an international court.
He expressed deep disappointment, claiming that his hard-earned money was taken advantage of and that he was defrauded in the process.
Despite his efforts to clarify the situation with government officials, Blackson said he was met with nothing but apologies, without any meaningful resolution.
His decision to possibly pursue the matter legally underscores the severity of his frustration.
Blackson’s accusations have ignited conversations among his fans and the public, with many expressing support for his stance against what he perceives as an injustice.
Others are calling for the government to address the allegations and ensure that foreign investors, especially those who return to give back to their homeland, are treated fairly and transparently.
The government is yet to respond to Blackson’s threats of legal action, but the situation continues to garner attention as people await further developments.
