A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alan Kyerematen, who defected from the party to stand as an independent candidate and set up a movement called Movement for Change, faces a significant setback today as over 6,000 youth who left the NPP to join his movement have changed their minds.
During the press conference led by former NPP Adenta MP hopeful, Alfred Ababio Kumi, the group indicated that they hade deliberated on it and believe it was a mistake.
“It has become evidently clear that we made a mistake, a mistake that we humbly admit, and ready to work to ensure that its dire effect is reversed or averted. Since the 7th Jan 2024 speech by H.E. Dr. Bawumia, we have been asking ourselves questions. Questions that borders on the future of this country and the very Ghana that we young people want.”
“We had deliberations … and if we have gotten in touch with the General Secretary and the flagbearer and they have encouraged us – you know how difficult it is when you are going and coming back, some people will not be happy though others will be happy, they’ve encouraged us in a good manner, and they are expecting us to be confident in everything that we do, and also think twice about any decision we make.”
