Former Managing Director of the Ghana Industrial Holding Corporation (GIHOC), Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has expressed admiration for the leadership and composure of Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, describing him as one of the most intellectually gifted figures in Ghana’s political landscape.

Speaking during an interview on Asaasepa FM on November 11, 2025, Jumah highlighted Afenyo-Markin’s discipline, sense of principle, and calm demeanor, particularly in how he has recently handled parliamentary proceedings. He noted that Afenyo-Markin’s approach during the vetting of Chief Justice nominee Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie was marked by integrity and self-control — qualities, he said, that reflect the essence of true leadership.

His commendation follows the Minority’s decision to boycott the vetting of the Chief Justice nominee. During the Appointments Committee’s session, Afenyo-Markin, serving as Ranking Member, formally announced that the Minority Caucus would abstain from the process due to a pending court case challenging the nomination.

Jumah’s remarks add to growing recognition of Afenyo-Markin’s political maturity and ability to navigate contentious national issues with restraint and focus, further cementing his place as one of Ghana’s most respected parliamentary figures.
