Lady Julia recounts 'love at first sight' encounter with Asantehene
Lady Julia Osei Tutu, the esteemed wife of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, shared a charming anecdote during the birthday party of the King who turned 74 on May 6.
She shed light on the beginnings of their relationship, invoking the notion of “love at first sight.”
During her tenure as the legal and corporate affairs officer of ECOBANK Ghana, Lady Julia attended the inauguration of the first branch of ECOBANK in Kumasi. It was here that fate intervened, as Otumfuo, captivated by Lady Julia’s presence, was unwilling to leave despite the rain and the urging of his courtiers.
Determined to learn more about her, Otumfuo discovered Lady Julia’s identity and made contact before the event concluded.
“He made sure he found out who I was and how to get in touch with me before leaving the event grounds.”
Later that evening, Lady Julia received an unexpected invitation to dinner at Otumfuo’s residence, unaware of the significance of the occasion.
This chance encounter marked the beginning of a remarkable journey for Lady Julia and Otumfuo, as they embarked on a partnership that would profoundly impact their lives and the community they serve.
