A viral story shared by a user, a Nigerian on X (formerly Twitter) has captured the attention of many, highlighting a tale of frustration, determination, and unexpected compassion. The user recounted her experience of tracking down a photographer who had gone silent after receiving 70% upfront payment for a photoshoot.
The saga began when the lady eager to have her photoshoot done, became increasingly frustrated as the photographer stopped responding to her messages.
“Have I been duped?… in this Lagos?… a whole me?… born & bred in Lagos?” she asked herself, feeling a mix of disbelief and anger.
Determined not to let the situation slide, she began to piece together every lead she could find to locate the photographer.
After a meticulous search, she managed to trace the photographer’s address, enduring a two-hour journey from Alaba International to Ikeja. Upon arriving at the street, she quickly identified the studio situated in front of a compound. Confirming the identity of the photographer with a resident, she decided to locate the nearest police station to seek assistance.
In an ironic twist of fate, as she sought directions from a woman on the street, she discovered she was the photographer’s mother.
“Is it my son you want to arrest?” she asked with visible concern. The lady’s frustration gave way to compassion as she saw the worry in her eyes. She explained the situation to her, detailing how she had paid her son 70% upfront for a job that was never completed.
The photographer’s mother, visibly distressed, pleaded with her and escorted her to her son’s studio. She inquired about what she wanted, to which she responded, “The boy should just do the job I paid him for.”
Surprised by her leniency, his mother expressed her gratitude. The lady explained that meeting her had reminded her of his late mother and and that is why she decided not report to the police.
