The Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has challenged the new head teacher of Osei Tutu Senior High School to input the due diligence to transform the fortunes of the second cycle institution.
His Majesty encouraged Bright Osei Yaw- a Reverend Minster of the Methodist Church- to leverage his experience to improve the academic performance of the students and uplift the image of the school.
“Very Rev, the school is now in your hands so do whatever it will take to develop it. You have the know-how and that’s why you were appointed to the position so do the work for us.”
Otumfuo made these remarks when the leader was introduced to him by the Bishop of Kumasi Diocese, Rt. Rev Stephen Kwaku Owusu with the Board of Governors, Old Students and Staff of the school present.
Anniversary
Rev Kwaku Owusu also informed His Majesty about the school’s upcoming 85th Anniversary celebration slated for later this year.
Though plans for the celebration are underway with efforts ongoing to officially serve the Manhyia Palace an invitation, he implored the King to honour the event set to take place on September 27, 2025.
Otumfuo in response directed that they furnish his office with details of the event.
Meanwhile, His Majesty assured them of informing former President John Agyekum Kufuor, an alumnus of the school, to grace the event.
Introduction of Kumasi North Diocese Leader
Rev Kwaku Owusu also used the occasion to introduce to the Monarch the Bishop of the newly created Kumasi North Diocese, Rt Rev Samson Obeng Agyei.
“Almost a year ago, we came to Otumfuo to inform him about plans to divide the Kumasi Diocese which had grown exponentially with the direction and advice of the Asantehene. We introduce Rt Rev Samson Obeng Agyei as the Bishop of the newly formed Diocese.”
The clergyman also introduced Very Rev Kwaku Adusei Acheampong as his deputy.
Otumfuo commended the new Bishop on his appointment emphasizing that his hard work had earned him the elevation.
