A disturbing betrayal unfolded in Uli, Anambra State, where a young man has been arrested for allegedly masterminding the kidnapping of his own friend and aiding a criminal gang in collecting a ransom of ₦5.3 million.
The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Muanaenye Victor, reportedly lured his unsuspecting friend under the guise of paying someone a visit. Instead, the victim walked straight into a trap laid by Victor’s gang members.
Once in their custody, the kidnappers demanded a ransom, which was later paid in foreign currency amounting to the naira equivalent of ₦5.3 million before the victim was released.
Police authorities in Anambra confirmed Victor’s arrest and disclosed that he is already assisting investigators by offering information that could lead to the capture of his criminal associates.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the Ihiala Local Government Area, where residents are now grappling with the horrifying reality of betrayal at the hands of someone considered a friend.
