Mark Okraku-Mantey has responded after media personality Nana Aba Anamoah publicly mocked him by claiming he was more appealing when he stayed silent. The former deputy minister addressed the matter during an interview on Aluta FM on November 12, 2025, where he made it clear that he believes his professional journey and accomplishments stand far above any criticism directed at him.
He pointed out that he has assessed his career alongside Nana Aba’s work in the same media space and feels no obligation to entertain comments from people he considers unworthy of a response. Okraku-Mantey suggested that Nana Aba should direct her energy toward safeguarding her own professional reputation. In doing so, he referenced the widely circulated 2015 episode in which she became the subject of intense public backlash after being accused of digitally inserting herself into a photo taken at a Manchester United match—a controversy that ultimately led to her removal from TV3’s screens.
Okraku-Mantey emphasised that his record in management, including his time at Hitz FM, speaks for itself. He stressed that he was restricting his comparison strictly to their shared field and was intentionally avoiding discussion of his broader work in music, ministerial duties, and DJing. To him, the priority is preserving his legacy, while he believes Nana Aba should work on securing hers, especially considering past scandals.
The tension between the two dates back to February 2025 when Okraku-Mantey appeared on Peace FM’s “Entertainment Review.” At the time, he argued that United Showbiz had strayed far from its original showbiz-based concept and urged the producers to consider adopting a new title. When he was asked whether he planned to appear on the program, he explained that he saw no place for himself on a platform that no longer focused on industry-relevant topics. He maintained that he would only participate when the show returned to conversations he deemed serious and professional.
His remarks prompted a fiery reaction from Nana Aba during an edition of United Showbiz on UTV. She countered by insisting that he lacked the moral authority to criticise the program, arguing that he had left little to show during his time as Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture. In her view, he had contributed nothing substantial to the very industry he often comments on, and she urged him to avoid weighing in on matters within the creative sector.
The argument has since developed into a full-blown public spat, with both media figures defending their records while questioning the credibility of the other.
