Ghanaian actress and entrepreneur Akuapem Poloo recently shared details about her struggles with securing roles in the movie industry.
Speaking in an interview with MzGee, she explained that her reputation has made it difficult for producers to cast her, as many believe her presence could harm their brand’s image.
Poloo, known for her bold personality, attributed these challenges partly to her past, particularly her arrest for indecent exposure.
She mentioned that this incident brought satisfaction to some of her critics, who were quick to seize the opportunity to further damage her reputation.
According to Poloo, even some individuals she considered friends took advantage of the situation by paying bloggers to spread negative and misleading stories about her.
In her efforts to revive her acting career, Poloo said she attended several auditions, hoping to land roles in upcoming films.
However, she faced constant rejection, with producers allegedly turning her away due to concerns that her outspoken nature and public controversies could bring unwanted attention and tarnish their projects.
Despite these setbacks, Akuapem Poloo continues to express her determination to rise above the obstacles in her path.
In 2021, Actress Rosemond Alade Brown, also known as Akuapem Poloo, pleaded with the court, saying, ‘Mummy please, Mummy, I beg you, Mummy please,’ as she was sentenced to 90 days in prison for sharing a nude photo with her seven-year-old son in June 2020.
The courtroom was filled with emotion as her lawyer, Mr. Andy Vortia, and other legal professionals present begged the court to consider a non-custodial sentence.
However, the court insisted that a stern sentence was necessary to deter others from committing similar offenses.”
