A young Nigerian woman has shared the chilling story of how a supposed job opportunity in Abuja turned into a life-threatening ordeal that left her friend unconscious and herself a survivor of gang assault.
According to her, the traumatic events began after she completed her education and moved back home to live with her mother, her only surviving parent. In hopes of securing employment, she contacted a friend based in Abuja who was working at a restaurant in the Kubwa area.
Her friend told her about a man supposedly in search of a domestic worker and arranged for them to meet for an interview. The job was said to come with accommodation — a critical condition since the friend’s landlord didn’t permit visitors to stay overnight.
The meeting was set for a date in January. The man asked them to meet him near Dutse, under the pretense that he was arriving from a trip. Upon arrival at the meeting point, they were picked up by the man — accompanied by a woman — and driven to an isolated location far from where they had originally gathered.
The building they were taken to resembled a guest house or private lodge. Though uneasy, the woman said she chose to remain silent out of trust in her friend who had arranged the meeting.
As the hours passed, her discomfort grew. Despite repeated promises that food would be provided before they left, they remained at the facility until late at night. The man eventually offered them bottled drinks and water. She claims to have declined the soft drink due to a medical condition, and instead drank only the water — while her friend consumed the mineral.
Soon after, her friend began to feel drowsy and eventually fell asleep. The man then entered the room and asked to speak privately with the narrator. She followed him to another room, where the female accomplice tried to reassure her that she would help secure the job.
What followed was a terrifying sequence of events. The woman was suddenly struck and rendered unconscious. When she awoke, she found herself restrained — her limbs tied with ropes — and surrounded by several unknown men.
She says her belongings, including her phone, purse, and inhaler, were taken. Her friend, who had also been in the house, was unresponsive but still breathing. The woman alleges that she was then sexually assaulted by multiple men, including the man who posed as an employer.
Eventually, the attackers left the premises, leaving her injured and alone. She managed to check on her friend and, though her friend showed signs of life, she was unresponsive.
The story was shared via a TikTok video, where the survivor tearfully recounted the experience. Her testimony has drawn widespread sympathy and condemnation online, with many calling for an investigation and justice for both women.
