A UK-based Nigerian man known as Oluomo of Derby is under intense fire online following serious accusations of defrauding several individuals in a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS) scheme that allegedly cost victims up to $21,000.
The revelations first surfaced on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), where a whistleblower exposed the situation with screenshots of direct messages from alleged victims.
These messages detail how they were allegedly duped by Oluomo under the guise of helping them secure UK sponsorship opportunities.
In one heart-wrenching message, a woman claimed she almost suffered a miscarriage due to the emotional and financial stress caused by the incident. “He owes me £5,000. I didn’t make it into the space in time. That man has no soul,” she lamented.
The whistleblower, visibly enraged, called out Oluomo directly in a public post, accusing him of hiding behind his identity as the founder of NIUK (Nigerians in the UK) to exploit people seeking better opportunities abroad. “You’ve ruined lives with this scam,” the post read. “Those defending you will also face their own consequences.”
As the story gained traction, more users joined the conversation with harsh reactions and suggestions for legal action.
Some commenters pushed for victims to pursue a class-action lawsuit, which they said could help distribute the legal fees more affordably among the affected individuals.
Others called on the victims to alert authorities and banks before it’s too late, especially those who recently made payments. “If it’s still within the timeframe, get your bank to flag his account,” one user advised.
Meanwhile, skepticism turned into outrage as more people who had initially defended Oluomo admitted the evidence was undeniable. A few went as far as threatening to locate him and take physical action, underscoring the level of frustration and anger from those affected.
While Oluomo of Derby has not yet responded to the growing scandal, the online pressure continues to mount, and calls for accountability are growing louder by the hour.
