Police in the North East Region have arrested 46-year-old Nana Amadu at Gbintiri, near Nalerigu, after a raid uncovered a large stock of suspected narcotics and drug-related materials.
The intelligence-led operation led officers to the suspect’s residence, where a search revealed seven parcels and 506 wrappers of dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp. Authorities also discovered three boxes of Oris Cigarettes, cigarette papers, multiple packs of Vergra 50mg drugs, 73 cigarette lighters, and two bundles of rubber wrappers.
During interrogation, Amadu admitted ownership of the seized items. He is currently assisting police with further investigations.
Law enforcement has since issued a caution to the public, particularly those engaged in the illegal drug trade, warning them to desist or risk facing the law.
