A Nigerian woman has sparked nationwide outrage with shocking allegations that a doctor at an Abuja hospital may have stolen one of her twins after delivery. The disturbing claim, shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @ChuksEricE, has raised serious concerns about medical malpractice in Nigeria’s healthcare system.
According to the mother’s account, prenatal scans at the hospital confirmed she was carrying twins. However, after giving birth, medical staff allegedly handed her only one baby while claiming the second twin had died. When she demanded to see the remains, they reportedly told her the body was “too damaged” for identification.
The situation took a chilling turn when the woman claims she later encountered the doctor’s wife at a pediatric facility with a child bearing an uncanny resemblance to her missing newborn. “That baby looked exactly like mine,” she stated in her post, which has since gone viral.
The allegations have triggered heated debates online, with many Nigerians sharing similar stories of suspicious hospital practices. Some commenters dismissed the claims as implausible, while others urged pregnant women to always have multiple family members present during deliveries as witnesses.
Medical authorities have yet to respond publicly to the allegations. However, the case has renewed calls for stricter oversight in maternity wards and proper documentation protocols for stillbirths and multiple births.
