A tragic incident has been reported in Assin Fosu, where a teacher, identified as Prince Nkrumah, reportedly ended his life by ingesting weedicide following the end of a romantic relationship.
Social media posts circulating on November 19, 2025, indicate that Prince had been deeply affected after a nurse, whom he had financially supported throughout her nursing education, ended their relationship. Reports suggest she subsequently ceased communication, leaving Prince emotionally distressed.
Before his death, Prince is said to have left a note for his family, asking them not to worry and explaining that his decision was personal.
This case highlights growing concerns over mental health in Ghana. According to data from the Mental Health Authority, the country recorded 134 suicide cases in 2024, marking a 40 percent rise compared to 2023.
