A devastating road accident has left an entire South African family dead after their vehicle collided with a truck while they were returning from a funeral in KwaZulu-Natal.
The crash, which happened around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2025, took place along the R42 Meyerton–Heidelberg route. The white Ford Focus carrying the victims was completely destroyed upon impact with the truck, resulting in the immediate deaths of all six occupants.
The victims have been identified as David Khehla Malindi (68), Anna Malindi (61), Mhlanganisi Malindi (35), Phindile Malindi (33), Xolani Bocibo (27), and young Lwandle Malindi Tshabalala, who was only three years old. All were residents of Unitaspark in Vereeniging.
News of the crash has deeply unsettled the local community, as residents struggle to come to terms with the heartbreaking loss. The accident also reignited concerns over safety conditions along the R42, a road known for its history of deadly incidents.
In a tearful farewell on Saturday, July 19, all six were buried during a single funeral service. Mourners gathered in large numbers, expressing their sorrow and paying their final respects to a family taken too soon.
