Prince Henry Okojie, husband of renowned Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson, recently survived an alarming assassination attempt at his home, an incident believed to have been carried out by political operatives.
The event, which took place on Friday, September 20, 2024, was brought to light by Okojie’s media representative, Michael Ihaza.
The attack was executed by a group of armed men who arrived at Okojie’s residence in a Lexus GX 470 bearing a Rivers State license plate.
These individuals falsely presented themselves as law enforcement officers, claiming to be on an official visit.
However, the suspicious actions of the intruders quickly prompted Okojie’s security team to take immediate action, confronting and disrupting their operation before it could escalate further.
The rapid response from his security staff not only prevented what could have been a catastrophic incident but also led to the apprehension of two members of the group.
The arrested individuals, including the vehicle’s driver, were handed over to local authorities for further questioning.
Ongoing investigations have revealed that these suspects were acting under orders from influential figures within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Esan North East Local Government Area, deepening concerns about the motives behind the attack.
Despite the critical nature of the situation, the swift efforts of Okojie’s security personnel ensured the safety of everyone present at the time.
Authorities are continuing their inquiries, with the two suspects currently in custody aiding in the ongoing investigation into the foiled plot.
This incident underscores the risks posed by political tensions and the lengths to which some individuals may go to achieve their objectives, raising concerns about security measures for public figures like Okojie.
