A Nigerian woman living in the UK has gone viral after recounting a disturbing nighttime incident involving strangers who claimed to have tracked a missing phone to her home.
Sharing her experience on TikTok, the woman revealed that around 9 p.m., while at home with her child, she heard repeated knocks on her front door.
Initially ignoring the noise, she eventually went downstairs to see what was going on. Upon opening the door, she was confronted by a man, a woman, and a teenage girl.
According to them, the girl had lost her phone on a bus, and a tracking app indicated it was inside her house.
She immediately became suspicious. After checking both her belongings and her child’s bags and finding nothing, she informed the trio that the phone was not in her home. However, they insisted otherwise, claiming the tracker pointed directly to her location.
Refusing to allow them entry, the woman promptly contacted the police to report the encounter. She expressed fears that the situation could have been part of a more sinister plot, perhaps to rob or harm her if she had allowed them inside.
In a follow-up, she revealed that no police officers had visited her residence or contacted her since the report, leaving her even more unsettled. She raised the question of whether the strangers had been genuinely looking for a lost phone or attempting to deceive her.
Many viewers praised her for her caution, while others suggested she formally report the matter at a police station for her safety and legal protection. A few users also noted that tracking apps are sometimes inaccurate and may point to neighboring homes instead.
Others shared similar personal stories involving tracking technology misdirecting them, but many agreed that her decision not to open the door likely protected her and her child from potential danger.
The woman’s story has since sparked wider discussions online about personal safety, the limitations of phone-tracking apps, and the need for vigilance—especially when dealing with strangers late at night.
