Entertainment critic Arnold Asamoah Baidoo has weighed in on the contentious issue of conflicting prophecies, particularly those related to elections, asserting that such discrepancies damage the reputation of God and the church.
During a recent appearance on United Showbiz monitored by News & Vibes, he expressed concern that the inconsistency among prophets undermines their role as divine representatives.
Arnold pointed out that when prophets deliver opposing messages, it not only creates confusion among believers but also diminishes trust in religious leadership.
He emphasized the significance of trust in the church, noting that many congregants seek reassurance in the divine guidance they expect from their spiritual leaders.
However, when conflicting prophecies arise, it raises doubts about the credibility of those leaders and their messages.
He referenced a notable incident from 2019 involving Rev. Owusu Bempah, who prophesied the death of the Chief Imam.
This controversial declaration led to violent backlash from Muslim youth, who vandalized the church and physically assaulted its members. Arnold highlighted that such prophecies can provoke unrest and have real-world consequences.
In his closing remarks, Arnold called for greater accountability among prophets, urging that they should be held responsible for predictions that do not materialize.
He believes that a more consistent and trustworthy prophetic voice is essential for restoring faith in religious institutions and ensuring that the church remains a safe haven for believers.
“We are mocking God when one representative says one thing, and another says the opposite. This creates mistrust. One of the reasons people go to church is trust, they believe something divine will happen. But when two prophets give conflicting accounts on the same matter, it makes people question if they’re in the right place. Membership in churches is decreasing because of the growing lack of trust in pastors these days.”
