A Ghanaian Immigration officer, who recently underwent a successful kidney transplant in India, is sharing her story to raise awareness about the importance of kidney health.

After battling chronic kidney failure, the officer underwent a life-saving transplant and is now urging others to take their health seriously. She revealed the numerous medications she must take every week, emphasizing the importance of preventing kidney damage.

“Taking this many drugs for the rest of my life is not a pleasing situation,” she said. “That’s why it’s crucial to keep yourself healthy and protect your kidneys.”

The officer stressed the importance of regular exercise and a balanced diet, warning against the dangers of junk food. “Eat healthy food, not junk,” she advised. “Exercise regularly to keep your body and kidneys healthy.”

She also highlighted the financial burden of her medication, noting that although she pays in cedis, the cost is calculated in dollars, making it expensive. “I pay for these drugs in cedis, but the cost is calculated in dollars, which is a significant burden,” she said.
