A viral video has triggered intense reactions online after capturing the moment a Nigerian pastor outright rejected a ₦30 offering from a woman, accusing her of showing disrespect to God.
In the widely circulated footage shared on X (formerly Twitter), the preacher—clad in a bright blue suit—approaches a woman sitting inside her car as she attempts to hand him an offering. Rather than accepting it, he refused and questioned the gesture, arguing that the amount wouldn’t be used to purchase anything valuable in her own life, let alone presented to God.
His refusal didn’t sit well with the woman, who immediately challenged his reaction, sparking a brief confrontation that was caught on camera.
The video quickly ignited controversy on social media, with users split over the preacher’s behavior. Some saw his actions as justifiable, describing them as a call for reverence in giving. Others, however, accused him of pride and insensitivity, arguing that offerings should come from the heart, not based on monetary value.
While many questioned the practice of pastors collecting money from people in public spaces, others defended the woman’s right to give what she had.
The incident has since evolved into a broader conversation about expectations surrounding offerings in modern-day evangelism and the line between faith and showmanship.
