According to the Chefs Association of Ghana, Chef Smith, the chef who recently claimed to have achieved a world title is not a registered member of the organization. They claim they were surprised when they saw their logo on Chef Smith’s attire.
This news comes as a blow to Chef Smith’s credibility, which was already under scrutiny after allegations surfaced that he had faked a Guinness World Record certificate. The Association’s General Secretary, Peter Agbovi, confirmed that Chef Smith has never registered with the organization, despite being a professional chef.
The Association only became aware of Chef Smith’s cook-a-thon challenge through social media, and attempts to get him to register as a member were unsuccessful. As a result, they did not recognize his achievements on their platform.
This development raises serious questions about Chef Smith’s legitimacy and credibility in the culinary world. The Chefs Association of Ghana stresses the importance of proper registration and adherence to guidelines for any chef attempting to achieve significant culinary feats.
At a press conference on July 2, 2024, Chef Smith boldly announced that he had shattered the world record for the longest cooking marathon, proudly displaying a certificate purportedly from Guinness World Records. However, the celebrations were short-lived.
Guinness World Records Limited’s PR Manager, Madalyn Bielfeld, revealed that the organization had not received an application from Chef Smith for this feat, casting doubt on the legitimacy of his claim. Bielfeld clarified that the current record holder for the longest cooking marathon is Alan Fisher of Ireland, who achieved a time of 119 hours, 57 minutes, and 16 seconds in Matsue, Shimane, Japan, from September 28 to October 3, 2023.
