A woman has taken to social media to recount her troubling experiences with her husband’s child from a previous relationship and the child’s mother, highlighting the strain it has placed on her four-year marriage.
In a post shared on X, she detailed how her husband’s daughter from a previous relationship frequently visits their home. Despite the wife’s knowledge and acceptance of the child, tensions have escalated due to the behavior of both the daughter and her mother.
The woman explained that her husband sends GH₵50,000 monthly for the child’s upkeep. The daughter visits their home every two months, but her behavior during these visits has been a constant source of frustration. “Whenever she comes for the weekend, she insists on sleeping between us in our bedroom, which went on for almost a year until I finally put a stop to it,” she wrote.
Adding to her grievances, the daughter often gives her father a list of items to buy for her mother, including underwear and makeup, which he unquestioningly fulfills. The woman also noted that her husband takes the daughter back to her mother’s house, a 45-minute journey, but often returns late at night and ignores her calls during these trips.
The woman expressed her disappointment in her husband’s lack of understanding and support. She recounted an incident where the daughter told her son that their house belonged to her father and that she and her mother would take over everything. Additionally, the daughter frequently uses the husband’s phone, a privilege the wife herself is denied.
The tension reached a peak when the daughter, during a recent visit, entered the wife’s bedroom and showcased her wristwatch on a video call to her mother, asking if she liked it so her father could buy one for her. The wife confronted the daughter, resulting in an argument with her husband. The daughter subsequently left with her father, and the husband returned late, upset with his wife.
Matters worsened when the child’s mother called the husband at midnight, and the wife intervened, warning the mother to stop contacting her husband at inappropriate times. The next morning, the mother called again, leading to a confrontation where the wife discovered that her husband had been unfaithful.
“Around 9 am, she started calling again, and then, my husband was bathing, we were preparing for morning mass… what I heard was ‘Babym, you promised to call when you get home, why didn’t you please come over today and touch me as you used to? We miss you’.
Feeling betrayed, the wife left with her child to her sister’s house and has since contemplated ending the marriage.
“My husband later came out from the wash room, and I asked her if he had been sleeping with the girl’s mother and he didn’t answer. I told him what I heard from her and I felt betrayed and disappointed. I dressed my baby up and left to my sister’s house.”
Despite her husband’s repeated apologies and pleas for forgiveness, she remains doubtful about the future of their relationship.
The husband’s mother, who had previously warned against allowing the daughter to visit, supported the wife, promising to speak with the child’s maternal grandparents to resolve the issue. However, the wife remains uncertain about continuing the marriage, feeling that her husband’s actions have eroded her trust and emotional well-being.
