Woman Sued by Student For Rejecting His Advances

A woman has shared her experience after being sued by a master’s student from the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) for ₦2.5 million, alleging emotional damages and fraud because she declined his romantic advances.

Detailing the incident on X (formerly Twitter), she explained that the encounter began while she was a final-year student at Kwara State University.

The man, pursuing his master’s degree at UNILORIN, expressed interest in her, but she made it clear that she was not interested. Despite her refusal, he continued to send her money and gifts.

The situation escalated when she firmly reiterated her lack of interest. In response, the man filed a lawsuit, accusing her of fraud. The woman claimed she received calls from the police and his lawyer, who demanded her presence at the station and threatened to notify her school.

However, their chat history, which showed she had consistently declined his offers, helped her prove her innocence.

According to her account, the man obtained her account details after offering to refund money when they encountered bank issues during their first meeting.

Despite her rejection, he continued sending money and gifts, claiming he wanted friendship.

The matter was later taken to the government house for mediation. During the settlement, the man insisted that she either marry him or face him in court.

He further alleged that he had processed a Canadian visa for couples and included her name in the application.

The story gained widespread attention online, with many social media users sharing their reactions and expressing disbelief at the man’s actions. The woman concluded by expressing relief that the evidence in their chats cleared her of the allegations, bringing the ordeal to an end.
